I’m Alicia. I’m the artist and owner of Glass Art by Alicia and HappyJoy Rocks. I make fused glass art, home décor and jewelry, as well as painted kindness rocks. I enjoy spreading joy in many different ways!

What is Fused Glass?

Fused glass uses the heat of the kiln to fuse (or join) pieces of glass together at high temperatures. It comes in various forms such as sheet glass, strings, powder and more. Different types of glass and varying kiln schedules provide a variety of effects for glass art. I use many techniques because the options in the glass world are endless! I love that I don’t have to be boxed in by one type and have the freedom to learn many different techniques. Everyone has a wide range of emotions and experiences to express, so I love playing with that variety and range.

What are Kindness Rocks?

There is a growing trend in communities across the world, where people paint rocks and leave them for others to find. Simply put, you paint a rock, usually with a cute design or encouraging saying, and then hide or leave it in a public place for someone else to find. When someone finds it, they can re-hide it for someone else to find or keep it to treasure.

What are some of the reasons we do this?

Painting can be a relaxing activity, much like coloring which can help reduce stress and increase happiness
It builds connections within a community and beyond
Kindness rocks can brighten someone’s day and bring an unexpected surprise
It’s a fun and creative project to do with kids (or just adults)
It’s a great way to express yourself
